Trial date set for teenage girl accused of multiple stabbings at Ammanford school

A teenage girl accused of stabbing two teachers and a fellow pupil at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman in April has appeared at Swansea Crown Court.

The teenager, who was 13-years-old at the time of the incident appeared at Swansea Crown Court today (24 May).

The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, spoke only to confirm her name.

She is charged with possession of a bladed article on a school premises and the attempted murder of two teachers and another teenager at Ysgol Dyffryn Amman.

All three injured in the attack were taken to hospital where they received treatment, and have all since been discharged.

The two teachers, Additional Learning Needs Coordinator Liz Hopkin and Assistant Headteacher, Fiona Elias have spoken of their experience thanking colleagues and emergency services who came to their aid.

A further teacher at the school Darrel Campbell, brother of Plaid Cymru politician Cefin Campbell, has been hailed as a hero after disarming the teenage attacker by putting her in an armlock while waiting for emergency services to arrive.

The now 14-year-old defendant will next appear in court on 12 August to enter her pleas, with a provisional trial date set for 30 September.
